The bust of Ion Luca Caragiale is made in marble by the sculptor Oscar Sp\u00e4the. Placed in 1943, it is one of the twelve busts in the Writers’ Rounds in Ci\u0219migiu Garden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The bust of Ion Luca Caragiale is the only one among the sculptures that make up the Writers’ Rounds made in semi-profile, looking up. At the same time, it is the only personality represented with a covered head: it is a hat made of sheep fur – a pose in which it also appears in some photographs.<\/p>\n<\/div>

Who was Ion Luca Caragiale?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Ion Luca Caragiale is one of the Great Classics of Romanian literature. His creation includes plays, sketches, short stories, most of them satirizing the world of the Capital or the province from the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

He distinguished himself with a predilection for dramaturgy, through the original comedies of morals “A lost letter” (1884), “A stormy night” (1878), “Conu’ Leonida face with Reaction” (1880), “D-ale carnival” (1885 ); or the drama “N\u0103pasta” (1890). His plays are memorable, being staged countless times, at all the theaters in the country, some of them being screened.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Creator of the outline in Romanian literature, Caragiale wrote: “Mr. Goe”, “Visit”, “Bubico”, “Tren de pleasure”, “Petition”, “Mare heat”, “A pedagogue of a new school”, “Last hour “, “Inspection”, “High-life”, “Telegrams”, “Justice”, etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
