The bust of \u0218tefan Octavian Iosif is made in marble by the sculptor Cornel Medrea. Placed in 1943, it is one of the twelve busts in the Rondul Roman (Writers’ Rotunda) in Ci\u0219migiu Garden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Who was Stefan Octavian Iosif?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

\u0218tefan Octavian Iosif (1875 – 1913) was a Romanian poet and translator, founding member of the Society of Romanian Writers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The originality of Iosif’s poetry consists in a lyricism of nature with social notes. The poet is a melancholic who gladly allows himself to be convinced that life must be lived. His translations are exceptional. By his own admission, he taught himself English in order to translate Shakespeare’s work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
