The bust of Alexandru Odobescu is carved in marble by Mili\u021ba Petra\u0219cu, the student of Constantin Br\u00e2ncusi, considered the most gifted female sculptor of Romania in the 20th century. Placed in 1943, Odobescu’s bust is one of the twelve busts in the Rondul Roman (Writers’ Rotunda) in Ci\u0219migiu Garden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Other works of the Petra\u0219cu Militia in Bucharest: the busts of Octavian Goga, Mihail Sadoveanu and Tudor Vianu<\/em><\/strong> at the Museum of Romanian Literature, the bust of Constantin Br\u00e2ncu\u0219i<\/em><\/strong> at Dorobanti Square and the sides of the Miori\u021ba Fountain<\/em><\/strong> decorated with a black and white mosaic, with scenes from the Miori\u021ba ballad .<\/p>\n<\/div>

Who was Alexandru Odobescu?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Writer, historian, archaeologist and politician, Alexandru Odobescu (1834 – 1895) remained in the history of Romanian literature as the author of the essay P<\/em><\/strong>seudo-kynegetic\u00f2s or False hunting treatise<\/strong><\/em>, but also of the historical short stories Mihnea Voda cel R\u0103u<\/strong><\/em> and Doamna Chiajna<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He published folklore studies on the songs of Eastern Europe. Alexandru Odobescu is one of the founders of archeology in Romania. He is the author of a treatise on the history of archeology and the monumental archaeological monograph dedicated to the Pietroasa hoard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
