Despre monument
Bustul lui Alexandru Odobescu este lucrat în marmură de către Milița Petrașcu, eleva lui Constantin Brâncuși, considerată cea mai înzestrată femeie-sculptor a României în secolul al XX-lea. Amplasat în 1943, bustul lui Odobescu este unul dintre cele douăsprezece busturi din Rondul Roman (Rotonda scriitorilor) din Grădina Cișmigiu.
Alte lucrări ale Miliței Petrașcu în București: busturile lui Octavian Goga, Mihail Sadoveanu și Tudor Vianu la Muzeul Literaturii Române, bustul lui Constantin Brâncuși la Piața Dorobanți și părțile laterale ale Fântânii Miorița decorate cu un mozaic în alb-negru, cu scene din balada Miorița.
About the monument
The bust of Alexandru Odobescu is carved in marble by Milița Petrașcu, the student of Constantin Brâncusi, considered the most gifted female sculptor of Romania in the 20th century. Placed in 1943, Odobescu’s bust is one of the twelve busts in the Rondul Roman (Writers’ Rotunda) in Cișmigiu Garden.
Other works of the Petrașcu Milita in Bucharest: the busts of Octavian Goga, Mihail Sadoveanu and Tudor Vianu at the Museum of Romanian Literature, the bust of Constantin Brâncuși at Dorobanti Square and the sides of the Miorița Fountain decorated with a black and white mosaic, with scenes from the Miorița ballad .

Scriitor, istoric, arheolog si om politic, Alexandru Odobescu a rămas în istoria literaturii române ca autor al eseului Pseudo-kynegeticòs sau Fals tratat de vânătoare, dar și al nuvelelor istorice Mihnea Voda cel Rău și Doamna Chiajna.
A publicat studii de folclor despre cântecele Europei răsăritene. Alexandru Odobescu este unul din întemeietorii arheologiei în România. El este autorul unui tratat de istorie a arheologiei și al monumentalei monografii arheologice dedicate tezaurului de la Pietroasa.

About the personality represented
Writer, historian, archaeologist and politician, Alexandru Odobescu remained in the history of Romanian literature as the author of the essay Pseudo-kynegeticòs or False hunting treatise, but also of the historical short stories Mihnea Voda cel Rău and Doamna Chiajna.
He published folklore studies on the songs of Eastern Europe. Alexandru Odobescu is one of the founders of archeology in Romania. He is the author of a treatise on the history of archeology and the monumental archaeological monograph dedicated to the Pietroasa hoard.
